The Alhambra Youth Boxing Club (Non Profit Organization) was founded by Rudy Tellez in 1991. The organization's main focus is to redirect the energy of our youth away from destructive behavior towards constructive use.
    The Purpose of the club focuses on the following areas:
  1. It keeps the youth off the streets
  2. The youth learn discipline by repeating exercises the same way everyday
  3. The youngster is responsible for wrapping their hands, which in itself is an art, and mastering the daily exercises before entering the ring to practice boxing with an opponent
  4. The members learn the basis of community service by helping new members master their exercises. Two things are accomplished: (1) new member is able to practice in the ring and (2) new member becomes a friendly opponent and the cycle continues.
The youngster's energy is depleted to the point of exhaustion. When they leave the gym, their only desire is to go home, eat, shower and go to bed. We believe that this is one way to decrease gang violence.
